Toyota & Yeti

In 2004, Toyota Motor Corporation hired FCB JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA to do the following print ad:

Interpretation: The yeti, who of all creatures in a snow storm would be the most comfortable, would still prefer a hitch-hiked ride in your Toyota.

Either that, or yeti is giving you and your Toyota a thumbs-up for "job well done".

But Toyota was not done with yeti!

On a number of occasions, a hired person has been disguised as the Abo'man to endorse their product at action sports events:

(Trend Watch: I've been seeing more and more depictions lately of yeti wearing ski goggles...)

So why does Toyota employ the yeti?

I think it's because they smartly recognize that yeti is currently popular with youth and also emblematic of winter action sports (snowboarding/skiing).

So using him as a mascot to endorse their motor vehicles helps target the right demographic.
